One of the easiest ways to quickly add some elegance to a room is by installing crown molding. Before the installation process can begin, you need to take measurements of the room and choose the style you want for your crown molding. There are various sizes and shapes that you can choose from. The style you pick should suit your personal taste and décor in the room. When you settle on a finish, you need to apply it before you can cut or fit the crown molding. You can either stain or paint your molding and then let it dry.

When trimming the molding, you have to do it on a level surface to make sure it is accurate. You need to determine where the joints will be so that you can drill holes on the crown molding. Make sure you use very few nails to attach the nails to the molding.

Installing New Carpet

The first thing you need to do is to remove your old carpet and ensure that your floor is dry and clean before installing the new one. This is also a good time to check if there are any loose floorboards. Once this is done, you need to put in some tack-less strips around the room. Do not put the strips in front of the doorway.

Once the strips are in place, lay down the under-pad in the same direction you plan to put the carpet. The under-pad should be stapled to the strips and if there is any excess, trim it off. Use some duct tape to make sure the seams are sealed.

Measure the room and take the new carpet outside so that you can trim it to fit the room. You can then put the new carpet in the room making sure it remains straight at all times. Trim the excess and glue carpet seams.
