Creating a Faux Wood Finish Antique

Antiques are associated with high class and tradition. Making furniture have an antique finish is always a hidden desire in most people. Giving the furniture the ideal faux wood finish mainly involves going through four main steps.

1. Surface Preparation
This mainly involves making the wood smooth. It can be done by using sand paper which can easily be found in the nearest store.

2. Surface undercoating
Applying an undercoat is done to preserve it and keep it from getting spoilt too quickly. A person needs nice lacquer finish. When doing this, use a brush and apply towards the same direction to create some uniformity and keep the wood looking good.

3. Antique Texture Application
After letting the under coat dries up, it is now time to apply some texture application. There are different types of textures that a person can choose from ranging from spray to streak type of texture.

4. Surface Seal In
This is the final coat that a person will to apply and just like the first, it is done for protection. It protects the work that has been done. Varnish may also be applied to give it a shinny finish.
