Sometimes the walls in a house may look dull and boring or even uninviting. At such times, painting them would be the right thing to do, although there are techniques one may try to make the painting more appealing.

To begin with, pick out a color scheme for the walls before painting commences. Also when choosing paint, remember that it may require one or two shades of one color. In this regard, when using two shades of color choose one that is darker, so that the lighter one is applied on the top as a finish. If one wants to sponge or rag their walls, drag it on the base color before letting it to dry properly. One then dips the sponge in the lighter color and drag it onto the base coat.

In cases of using decorative painting techniques, one can try creating a wallpaper effect. This is done by stampling and stenciling a design over the base coat.
